What's Happening...
Posted 25-08-2008 by Rick

Thought it was time I updated the blog here. Hope the summer's been good to everyone.

Thanks to those who came out to the shows and festivals dotted around the last few months. A few more upcoming: one in Stavanger, Norway, the annual King's Head gig in Crouch End, London, and finally the Tanned Tin in Castelló, Spain. Still working on the production of the Demon & Beast LP I mentioned last time. The 'Nighttime Recordings from Göteborg' CD will come first though. Limited to 465 in handmade packaging; those of you familiar with Kning Disk's 'L-Series' will know what to expect. But it's all new stuff, mostly improvised, I got down alone in a studio whilst on a tour of Sweden a year and a half ago. And it goes out to my old friend Dave Tyack.

A few new projects are underway, one of which involves writing the soundtrack to a feature film, which is exciting. Don't think this will see the light of day until next year though. Also hope to get a 45 out on this label before the year's out. And intend to get new stuff down I've been working on, for a new LP. Doubt it's going to come out under the same name as the last one though! Time's right for a change, in my mind at least.

Long time...
Posted 06-06-2008 by Rick

Hope everyone has found us at this new spot. Everything is going to shift over here from the current Voice of the Seven Woods site. This isn't a typical 'record label' site. It is also acting as a distro for all VOTSW etc. releases, whether they're on Twisted Nerve, Kning Disk, Tchantinler or other. And whether they are out under Voice of the Seven Woods, or my own name, or a different name. This is just a natural extension of self releasing CDRs as I have been doing the last few years. It made sense to extend Tchantinler beyond the two limited CDR releases my good friend (and head of design here ;) Brad and I had put out already.

There's a CDR available in the shop, 4 tracks, no label. This is a collection of 'unused' VOTSW tracks. Two of which were meant to go on comps that never came out, one is a alternate version of an old song, and one is a live version of a track from TN077. I'm pretty much making them to order, and they're not going to hang around. They are hand numbered and available from this site only, and for a couple of weeks at the most.

Intended to get this site launched before we headed to Sweden a few weeks ago... but it didn't happen. But - wow - anyone who saw Träd, Gräs och Stenar will know how good it was. One of the best shows I've ever seen, and it beat the hell out of anyone attempting heavy jams like theirs these days. As always - thanks to Conny, Linn and all other friends out in Stockholm. Also thanks to James in Barcelona for setting up the Primavera gig, and everyone who showed up there last week.

Upcoming is Kning Disk's reissue of 'The Journey' on 10" and CD. This was previously available as a CD-R and limited to 500 at live shows and through the old site only, so it's cool to see it being given a proper release, especially on vinyl... The shop here will be taking orders next week, as soon as we have stock. Will let those of you on the mailing list (eyes right) know when they're up there. 'Demon & Beast' is in production and will follow shortly. And then I think that's it for VOTSW reissues. At this moment I'm feeling like the rest of it is best left there in the past on the format and in the number of copies it was originally issued in.
